“Yes, we can.” That Obama phrase really has a different meaning from what he would have you believe. He wants it to be about a “new” America with “change” that advances his agenda, “change we can believe in.” Really? In our opinion, what it would actually mean is closer to this:
“Yes, we can”....get a sweetheart real estate deal, if you know the right group of people (i.e., Tony Rezko) and you can count on the liberal media almost totally ignoring this; kind of like the media has with the Countrywide mess and Democrats in the Senate, that looks an awfully lot like trading favors for questionably friendly loan terms [if Obama or they were Republicans, then Hell hath no fury like the media firestorm that would have ensued...but as it is, hey, “no harm, no foul,” right?]
“Yes, we can”....get rid of the very things that are helping to prevent another terrorist attack on American soil, like the eavesdropping program, the Patriot Act, tough interrogation of prisoners, the type of things that helped Great Britain foil the would-be subway attack not long ago...
“Yes, we can”...raise the budget deficit to record highs, and spend our country into a catastrophic level of uncertainty and imbalance, with high levels of inflation sure to follow.
“Yes, we can”...raise taxes stiffly, including the capital gains tax and dividend tax, and further stunt economic growth, and convince people that the tax increases to come will be “only” on the “rich,” when in fact we will ditch the Bush tax cuts, raising the taxes of anyone who pays taxes, and hike them even further for the “rich,”, i.e., which will really include most of the middle class on up. While we are at, we’ll bring back the inheritance tax, so that you will pay taxes on anything you inherit, unlike now.
“Yes, we can”...continue to oppose off-shore drilling and drilling in other oil-rich places of the U.S. such as ANWR, repeating the same-old party line we said ten years ago, “we wouldn’t benefit from any new drilling for ten years”...uh, better make that twenty years...uh, well, its just bad and it won’t solve our energy problems, and those bad Republicans just want to hurt the “environment” and aren’t trying to solve the energy problem like we are...
“Yes, we can”...continue to exaggerate that “ten year” period we say it would take to produce any new oil, when the true figure is more like two to five years...
“Yes, we can”...continue to insist on higher production of ethanol, despite the fact that it is not an efficient means of supplying energy, and will continue to lead to higher food prices as more and more corn goes for making gas instead of food products.
“Yes, we can”...turn the best health care system in the world into a model of under-performance, too much like the European systems Obama wants the U.S. to adopt.
“Yes, we can”... give illegal immigrants better health care, for free, than almost all of the rest of us get (and pay for), giving them the same benefits that the privileged few in the U. S. Senate get...and “Yes, we will”...make you pay for all of this.
“Yes, we can”...have record numbers of partial birth abortions, literally cutting the life out of viable would-be babies, and still claim that we, the left, are the “compassionate” ones who “really” care about children, unlike those cold-hearted Republicans...
“Yes, we can”...pack the federal courts, most notably but not limited to, the U.S. Supreme Court, with like-minded liberals who will spend lifetimes striking down and rewriting our laws in their own image...
“Yes, we can”....ignore the ever-present threat of terrorism, emboldening the extremists, and leaving Americans more vulnerable to additional attacks than even before 9/11...
“Yes, we can”....play into the hands of terror-sponsoring nations like Iran and Syria, meeting with them under circumstances that will allow them to use those meetings as anti-U.S. propaganda and further fuel negative furor against our country...
“Yes, we can”...ignore the nuclear threat of rogue governments like those of Iran, leaving the entire world, but most particularly Israel and the U.S., vulnerable to nuclear attack...
“Yes, we can”...be a complete novice when it comes to foreign policy, and still get elected. After all, we did tour the Middle East for an entire week in July, and there were lots and lots of reporters and TV cameras there, with numerous “photo-ops” all day long. That should make up for any glaring inexperience in foreign relations, shouldn’t it?
“Yes, we can”...meet with injured American troops, so long as the full complement of TV crews and cameras are allowed to record the whole thing, to air on their “PR” broadcasts–uh, “news” programs–later on...but when we find out no cameras can accompany us, “we can” cancel the visit and blame it on the Pentagon.
“Yes, we can”...infer that the United States has engaged in “torture,” when in fact, it is the terrorists who have done that over and over to innocent people and our troops, while the extremists we are holding at Gitmo are eating better and have better living conditions than not only criminals in our prison system, but also many of our own soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Yes, we can”...continue to receive support from hate-merchants like Louis Farrakhan, who has said terrible things about Jews and white people, while we continue to say that we do not “accept” that support...
“Yes, we can”...expect people to believe that we didn’t know anything about our “spiritual mentor,” Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s ravings condemning America, even though months before that story finally got reported by Big Media, we ditched him from giving the invocation at our campaign kickoff in Illinois, because, as we told him, his sermons can “get kind of rough”...but no, we didn’t hear a thing over the 20 years we listened to those sermons...
“Yes, we can”...be controlled by the Far Left, including the George Soros-funded, hate-filled leftist websites, and be their best means, other than our friends in the media, to advance the cause of “secular-progressives” and their “culture war” against what used to be mainstream America, while we give lip service to “traditional” values.
“Yes, we can”...get an unprecedented amount of positive PR from the liberal media which is “in the tank” for us, helping to propel an inexperienced, leftist politician to the head of the class, with “rock star” status ceremoniously heaped upon him at most every turn...hey, even the reporters are “crying in the aisles”...
“Yes, we can”...expect that media to devour our political opponents (see Clinton, Hillary, Guliani, Rudy, and McCain, John, and now, Palin, Sarah) with an ever increasing number of negative stories, whether truthful or not, whether relevant or not.
“Yes, we can”...now that you mention it, profess that we aren’t behind the vicious, sexist, hateful attacks on Gov. Sarah Palin, but still hope to reap the “benefit” of Big Media’s biased attempt to bury her.
“Yes, we can”...say with a straight face that we are the “agent of change” while continuing the “attack-dog” barrage on our opponents, which includes the silly and false allegation that McCain doesn’t use email, when, in fact, his war and POW injuries prevent him from using a computer keyboard–which also means...
“Yes, we can” take the cheapest of cheap shots in so ridiculing a brave American who spent five years of his life–longer than Obama has been a Senator, by the way–in a North Vietnamese prison, enduring torture, mistreatment, and malnourishment.
“Yes, we can”...to top it all off, “flip-flop” on several of the issues mentioned above, and pass ourselves off as the “moderate” candidate, and fool enough of the voters into pulling the lever for us, so that after elected, we can move “back” to where we really were all the time, to the dangerous left.
“Yes”...we might have left something off this list. But give us a little time, and “we can” add to it...
In response, we at www.BoycottBigMedia.com must say...
Yes, we can...defeat Obama in November. Even if you don’t agree with John McCain on every issue, realize what is going to happen if he does not win (see the above)...
Yes, we can...take this election out of the hands of the talking heads of the leftist media, by showing up in droves to our polling places and placing our votes, thinking for ourselves, and in the best interests of our country, not the best interests of the special interests...
Yes, we can...help Big Media take a Big Hit on the bank balance, by boycotting the leftist networks entirely, or at the very least severely limiting what we watch on those networks, and by canceling magazine and newspaper subscriptions from Big Media that are also part of the problem...
Yes, we can...get our news from outlets that don’t cower to the dual-headed god of “secular progressiveness” and political correctness...
Yes, we can...think for ourselves, without being spoon-fed by Big Media, and no, we will not... fall for Obama’s gymnastic “move” to the middle, because we know that if he is elected, he will attempt to implement the leftist agenda which is at his campaign’s core, perhaps even while saying “thank you very much” to the moderates and independents who voted for him, and the conservatives who pouted and stayed home from the polling place.
Yes, we can...get a good laugh when we hear of Big Media pundits, with a serious look on their faces, declare that there “really isn’t a liberal bias in favor of Obama” or that Big Media “didn’t really favor Obama over Hillary.”
Yes, we can...get an even louder laugh over those in Big Media claiming that they aren’t “attacking” Sarah Palin, when it is obvious to any objective observer that they are doing that–and there are even some fair-minded liberals who agree with that observation.
Yes, we can...be disgusted with the hypocrisy of Big Media and the Left, who, when John McCain steals Barack Obama’s thunder by nominating a rising star who is also a female, launches a full-scale attack on her with both barrels blazing–yet, if she were a liberal Democrat, not a discouraging word would be heard from them.
Yes, we can...go beyond being disgusted by that, and do something about it, namely, watch something else or do something else other than camp in front of Big Media programming, and secondly, coming out of the woodwork on Election Day, in a vast swarm, to vote for and elect America’s hero, John McCain.
