Thanks to Big Media, the impression is given that the "PC" way is THE way, the truth and the life, and that anything that stands in its way, including what Christians consider to be "the" way, the truth and the life, be condemned, and be discarded, after being held in disdain and held up to ridicule. It is evident that the secular-progressive political correctness that wants to rule the world will have nothing stand in its way. Big Media has fostered the false impression that "most" people share these PC "values" (which aren’t values at all, but that’s another topic).
Too many of us are the "silent majority" who sit idly, too often camped in front of televisions, allowing this stuff to be shoved down our collective throats, including those of our impressionable children. Want your child educated by the secular PC crowd? Just send them to a public school in too many parts of this country, and see what kind of "values" they come home with, and then sit them in front of TVs, watching network programming and certain cable outlets, and see just how much better it gets then.
How did all this happen? A deadly combo of Big Media’s push, the secular PC crowd’s persistence and aggressiveness, coupled with an equally passive response from the traditional silent majority. That silent majority, despite its good points, also has its own failings of which the secular PC’s have taken full advantage, labeling anything sacred as being actually profane.
For example, since there were some priests who abused children, then the Catholic church is "bad." Since there were vocal racists in the south in the 1950s and 1960s, then if you are from the south, you are a bigot. Because some evangelical Christians have made hurtful comments, then all evangelicals are suspect and "intolerant." Just a few that make the "top ten" list of Big Media’s (and the Left’s) exaggerations and outright untruths.
Big Media has long assaulted traditional American institutions, such as the church, the government, and even the military. Remember, "the flower children" of the 60s were not fans of our servicemen and women, and too many of them called those brave soldiers "baby killers" and spit on them when they returned home from Vietnam. Back then the media gave the "peace" movement much of its momentum, and those flower children of yesteryear are, in a number of cases, the leftists of today. Oh, today, they may say they "support" our military, but then laud and parade around liberal Democrats such as Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. John Murtha, both of whom have made derogatory comments about our troops.
Added to this assault are the legitimate instances in which someone from one of these institutions [church, government, military] has made a mistake, and gone too far, said something stupid, or done something which leaves them subjected to ridicule. Those mistakes are used by Big Media and the Left to strongly reinforce the negative stereotypes which those two constantly push upon the American public.
Let’s face it. With some people, if they hear or read something over and over and over, especially on TV or uttered from the mouths of celebrities or flowing from the pages of liberal newspapers, they end up believing it. Doesn’t matter if it is actually true, for it has been ingrained so deeply that this segment of the population accepts it as gospel.
Case in point: "Bush is stupid." How many times have you heard that? How many of you believe it, despite the facts to the contrary? The man has been treated derisively by the White House press corps, in a manner that not even his predecessor had to endure. National liberal Democrats have hurled insults and slime toward President Bush from the moment he took office–and this a man who was respected by a number of Democrats in Texas while governor, and who worked well with members of that party.
This is also the man who outscored his last condescending opponent, John Kerry, on the military intelligence test both of them took years before, much to the consternation of the junior senator from Massachusetts. This man also correctly recognized that this country is at war with those who want to destroy us, and has not failed to realize the need to respond and act effectively and efficiently to prevent America from additional terrorists attacks...a danger that too many on the Left "poo-poo" as exaggerated, though they would rain still more condemnation down on him should another attack occur while he is in office. The liberal Democrats have castigated him for "robbing" us of our "civil liberties," through such practices as eavesdropping on suspected terrorists’ overseas phone calls without a warrant, even though that practice has proved effective and does not cause a problem for anyone who has nothing to hide.
Another case in point of people believing whatever TV tells them? That it is "the Republicans fault" that the present financial crisis happened. Just who was it that set Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac free to bring financial discord to the mortgage world? Who resisted every effort to regulate those two, and reign in executives of those two who made millions? Here’s a hint: a couple of those very rich former executives are now key advisers to...Barack Obama, yes, the one who is to "lead" us out of our present troubles.
If you haven’t guessed already, it was liberal Democrats who resisted the efforts, including that led by John McCain, to bring a halt to Freddie and Fannie’s unsound practices. Those same liberal Democrats, led by Frank, Dodd, Pelosi and Reid, then tried to load up the bailout with even more pork, including for the much-maligned ACORN, who also had a hand in causing this crisis. Yet now, these same Democrats want you, the citizens, to "trust" them, led by Obama, to lead us out of this mess and into the promised land.
Let’s see...(1) cause the problem; (2) blame others for the problem, then (3) reap the anger of the voters who then vote against the ones you said caused the problem! What a neat trifecta of a trick!
So, how long are you going to sit idly by, accepting what Big Media and the Left tries to force-feed you? We don’t care if you consider yourself a conservative, moderate, liberal, Democrat, Republican, independent, Christian, Jew, Muslim, agnostic or atheist, or anything else. We cannot allow our country to be run by, and controlled by, "the Left," and its closest ally, Big Media.
If you take offense at our bluntness, we do not intend to insult you. It is past the time, however, to get up, and stand up for what we believe in, despite whatever differences we may have, and save our country. As we say elsewhere, this stand must be taken in love and with charity, though also with a firm resolve.
Say what you want, believe what you want, but hear this: regardless of the packaging, the PR show, the "big push" and the media-blitz bandwagon, Barack Obama is the candidate of both the Left and Big Media. He is theirs, they are his. Electing him president would be the biggest mistake this country has made in years.
If you think we say the above with any malice whatsoever toward Senator Obama, his family, his supporters, or his party, then, respectfully, we must say that you are mistaken. This is not about hating the other side, and it certainly is not because of his racial background.
Big Media shows its dishonesty and abandonment of "journalistic principles" every day–in its cheerleading for Obama, ignoring of most anything negative about its chosen one, including the horrendous allegations of voter fraud on the part of ACORN as well as Obama’s long history with that group, and in its constant belittling and bashing of John McCain and Sarah Palin.
We do find it sadly ironic that Big Media makes much more of a fuss over Obama’s "stadium rallies" and even the three-pointers he makes on a basketball court, during some "photo-op," while it largely ignores the fact that John McCain spent years in confinement as a prisoner of war, mistreated and tortured by horrendous captors, yet keeping his resolve intact and emerging stronger as a result. Which do you think better prepares someone to be Commander-in-Chief? Pep rallies and pick-up games on a basketball court? Get real, please. Get real.
So, how did we get here? We don’t claim to know all the reasons for that, but we think the above at least scratches the surface. Regardless of how it happened, it is time for America to wake up.
Electing John McCain will not solve all of America’s problems. But, neither will electing Barack Obama, despite the grandest illusion to the contrary fostered by Big Media and the Left. No one person can be a political "savior" for this country, even if Big Media acts like a certain someone will be. Electing Obama will not only not solve our present problems, but will create a whole new set.
We do find it fitting that the Republican nominee is someone with a broader base than "just" a conservative one, a reformer who has made an effort throughout his political career to reach out to others holding positions differing from his own. His running mate has a similar history, and is undoubtedly "of the people," which apparently disqualifies her in the scornful eye of Big Media. Instead of a couple of perceived "ideologues," voters have a chance to elect a team of "mavericks" who are balanced, socially and fiscally conservative, but independent and open to listening to and working with others, and who have a deep understanding of the dangers and problems facing our country and an equally determined resolve to meet those challenges. Someone who really does, and has, put "country first."
John McCain and Sarah Palin are those candidates. The choice is not only clear, but, in all due respect, we do not see how that choice could even be a close one.
