BY GOLLY, WE AGREE WITH YOU...

On September 8, Senator Obama was out and about and lit into Gov. Palin, claiming that she had hired a "lobbyist" to get "earmarks" for her Alaska town when she was mayor, and claiming she was flip-flopping now, as the running mate of John McCain, long known for wanting to curtail the "earmarking club" that is widespread in the U. S. Congress.

Well, guess what? Senator Obama, as short as his time has been in the U. S. Senate, could be a charter member of the earmarking club himself, since he’s tried to get so much "pork" for his state. He also ranks no. 2, behind Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), in contributions received from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He even had the gall to bring up the John Kerry routine of "I was for it before I was against it" and tried to describe Sarah Palin in those terms. This from the guy who was firmly and vocally "against" the eavesdropping program of President Bush until he recently voted "for" it. Who was for strict gun control laws until he recently announced he agreed with the U. S. Supreme Court’s decision which struck down such a law in Washington, D. C.

There was one thing Senator Obama said that we have to agree with: he said that "you can’t just make things up. The American people aren’t stupid."

Gee, Senator, we couldn’t agree more. So why have you repeatedly said that your campaign has not and will not accept donations from lobbying firms, that your campaign is "different" and won’t be run by the "special interests" of D.C.? When, in fact, your "fundraising team includes 38 members of law firms that were paid $138 million last year to lobby the federal government," according to an article by Ken Dilanian in the USA Today, April 17, 2008 (emphasis added). Those lawyers include ten former federal lobbyists and the 38 "have pledged to raise at least $3.5 million" for the Obama campaign, while employees of their firms have donated another $2.26 million to the Obama campaign, according to the same article.

And Senator Obama has the gall to call out Gov. Palin for employing someone to see that her city got its share of the federal dollars available to towns and cities across the country, which is hardly an uncommon thing to do? And to claim that his campaign is "different," when, in fact, the money has been flowing to it like a river from lobbyists? We’re not sure why Senator Obama has used the "attack dog" method since the Democrat convention. Since there are a full complement of people in Big Media already doing the attacks on McCain and Palin for him, we aren’t sure why he feels the need to do the same.

How about some other areas? Taxes? We agree, you "can’t just make things up," such as the claim that the Obama campaign will ease the tax burden on everyone but the "very rich." Senator, as the old saying goes, we might have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night. If Senator Obama is elected, the Bush tax cuts will be gone with the wind, for everyone, from the person earning $30,000 a year to those who really are rich.

Senator Obama also wants to tax what you make on the sale of your home–presently there is no tax on that gain, but if he becomes president, how about 28% of that gain being taxed? So, sell your house now and make 100 grand, and that 100 grand stays with you. Sell it under an Obama presidency and you will then write out a check for $28,000 to the federal government. After all, they "need" that money more than you do, right?

Dividends? Presently, a tax of 15%. Under an Obama administration, that tax jumps to nearly 40%. That affects your IRAs and other retirement accounts and your stock and mutual fund investments.

Capital gains taxes will also increase dramatically. You think the economy has some weaknesses now? Just wait.

Senator McCain opposes each of the above tax increases that Senator Obama favors. The real change that this country needs can come with a McCain presidency. We don’t think we are stupid, like Senator Obama said. At least not as stupid as the Left and Big Media think we are. The "change" touted by Senator Obama is really the "same old same old" of Washington, D.C. liberals, with the heavy influence of special interests, heavy tax increases across the board, and not just for "the rich," along with sky-rocketing spending and socialized medicine.

Big Media has long been "in the tank" for Senator Obama. If he becomes president, that’s where our economy will be as well.
